My husband and I absolutely love hot chocolate in the winter time. Actually, we love chocolate in general. So after researching lots of dairy free hot chocolate recipes on Pinterest, (and some failed attempts that weren’t chocolatey enough) I decided to come up with my own recipe. I also wanted the recipe to be quick to make so that on a moment’s notice I could have hot chocolate without having to turn the stove on. This recipe only uses 4 ingredients (Cocoa powder, Sugar, Almond milk, and Chocolate syrup) and can be made all in your favorite mug! Oh and don’t forget the toppings! Eric loves to have his topped with mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips and I sometimes like to top it with dairy free whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Whichever way you like it, you can’t deny that it’s the perfect way to warm up on a cold winter’s day. Enjoy!

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings 1 mug
Ingredients
1 1/2 Tbsp White sugar
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
Almond Milk
Chocolate Syrup
Instructions
Choose your favorite ceramic mug and add the sugar and cocoa powder. Mix until combined.
Next add the amount of almond milk it will take to fill your mug 3/4 of the way full. Stir and mix until combined. (It’s ok if the cocoa powder is still clumpy on top. It will dissolve when heated)
Now add the chocolate syrup and stir until you get the perfect chocolate color and taste. For me, that usually means 2 swirls.
Then heat your mug in the microwave for 2 minutes. When done, stir and check the temperature. For my microwave, I usually have to heat it for 1 more minute to get it to the temperature that I like.
Finally, top it with marshmallows, whipped cream, or any of your other favorite toppings. Enjoy!
