Theme
The theme for this party came from the opening of a donut shop near us called the Donut Bar. I though “How cool would it be to have a party with only donuts!”
Time
I decided to have this party on a Saturday morning at 10am. I wanted the time of this party to be early enough in the morning that everyone would want to eat breakfast but also late enough that I had time to make fresh donuts in the morning without having to wake up at 4am.
Invitation
I invited our friends via a Facebook event and wanted to create a fun cover photo for the event. I created the below image in the app Canva which allows you to create fun (and free) images that are sized perfectly for different social media platforms. I had a lot of fun creating this image because I had a cute pun that I wanted it to say. And I’m all about funny puns!
Decorations
Party City is the best place to grab party decorations for any theme! I couldn’t believe that they had donut themed items! The table cloths, spiral decorations, and napkins all came from Party City. Additionally the pink plates and clear plastic frames came from Dollar Tree. My favorite decorations though were the free printables I downloaded and printed for the plastic frames.
Food
For the food, we bought 2 dozen gourmet donuts from the Donut Bar. We had tons of different flavors such as fruity pebbles, cookies and cream, chocolate dipped, and many more!
On top of that, I wanted to bake plain donuts that could be frosted and decorated anyway that you want. And because I couldn’t eat the normal donuts, I went to my favorite app, Pinterest, to find a gluten free vegan donut recipe. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed with this recipe! Each donut was so soft and held it’s shape really well. And the flavor was spot on! Click the image below to try this recipe for yourself!
On top of the donuts, I wanted to have a really cute juice bar with the option to create mimosas for those who weren’t driving. I found these awesome plastic carafes at Party City and they worked out so well for what I wanted. I offered milk, apple juice, and orange juice with the option of adding champagne and raspberries.
Games & Activities
So if you haven’t caught on yet, our friend group is big on playing games together. This party started out with an intense game of life sized Jenga which was such a hit! Then we played a couple of social deduction games like Decrypto and Deception (look them up!). Finally, we ended the party by playing Eric and I’s new favorite game called “Welcome To…”. The game can be played with anywhere between 1-100 players! Everyone gets to build their own suburb by adding a street number to 1 of their 3 streets. The trick is though that you need to put the house numbers in ascending order without any duplicates and the numbers get drawn randomly. Each player must solve the puzzle of getting their suburb streets complete before the other players. It’s a really fun game because it’s not super competitive and it’s easy to learn so everyone can enjoy themselves. Check it out!
