Theme
This month’s party was a viewing party for the super bowl so the theme was obviously football.
Invitation
If you’ve read my Wine and Chill party from last month, then you know I love to use Facebook events as my form of invitation and I create a special Facebook Event Cover images for that party using the free app called Canva. It has thousands of templates for each type of social media and for any type of topic or theme. So finding one that was football themed was easy!
Decorations
So for the decorations I have to give a shoutout to the thrift store! My parents have found many football serving items at various thrift stores by them and since they know I love hosting, they give them to me! The only other decorations I had were themed plates and napkins that I bought from Party City (which I purposely made sure they were just generic football themed instead of super bowl themed so that I could use them again for another party).
Food
As for the food, I decided that a nacho/taco bar would be the easiest to make and most appropriate for a football party. My husband and I provided everything needed for the nachos/tacos and our friends brought various dips as appetizers. Finally, I made chocolate sugar cookies, cut them out in the shape of footballs, and decorated them. And let me tell you, those cookies are delicious! They were all gone by the end of the night! Games/Activites
Obviously the main activity of the night was to watch the super bowl so there weren’t many games being played besides the game on the tv. I will say though, it has been a struggle each year to find a good tv app to stream the game on since we don’t have cable. We have done various free trials of different options and we have never been satisfied with how it works. So far the only thing that has seemed to work is our $30 antenna that we have set up in the basement which showed the game perfectly. We were skeptical at first but have come to love it when it comes to watching big events on tv.
